Wheellock is a wheelchair locking system that prevents fall accidents. A person in a wheelchair can experience a fall accident when they start to get up and out of wheelchair. The same can happen to patients that are pushed by helpers, wheels are not properly locked or have faulty brakes on worn out tyres.
Wheellock is set up in a way that when a person sitting in the wheelchair wants to get up, there is a safety bar that prevents user from leaving the seat. The gold safety bar has to be pushed aside and fold under arm rest. At the same time it pushes brakes down to lock the two wheels. To release this set of brakes, the person must sit down, put barrier back in front of seat. Bars in place prevent standing up.
