Inspired by the new way of interpersonal communication in the new normal, this “holoportation” device allows remote visiting of elderly staying at institutional care centres to happen. “Holoportation” means “hologram” + “teleportation” that is two remote locations can communicate with each other and a speaker image can be seen by the audience in holographic form. Putting it in the elderly care field, elderly can see the holographic image of their family members. The purpose of such product innovation is to allow elderly to be connected to society effectively during COVID-19, so that less elderly will have their mental health being negatively impacted due to social isolation they have been experiencing.
