“WEmind” provides a smart shoe cabinet with voice prompts and a drawer. It is specifically designed for elderly people living alone and those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The design will remind the elders through a sensor to bring along the necessary items such as keys. Upon their returning home, they will also be reminded to put back the items into the drawer. It reduces the inconvenience caused by memory loss.
The installation records their personal photos before going out. When they are lost on a street, it may be easier for caretakers to find them based on their clothes.
Another ancillary function of the smart shoe cabinet is to remind the elders about taking medicine etc.
